Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is committed to making Norfolk a safer place
Across the UK the Fire Service as a whole continues to change with the aim of improving public safety. The change is part of a major programme of national reform outlined in the Government’s White Paper “Our Fire and Rescue Service”.
In the ‘new-look’ service there is an even stronger emphasis on pro-active prevention work whilst retaining the commitment to respond to emergencies. The focus of fire cover is moving to new standards based on risk to human life - a switch of priorities from property to people, if you like - with a major emphasis on the rescue work and our part in all types of emergency. As a result all Fire Authorities are producing an annual Safety Plan (also know as an Integrated Risk Management Plan or IRMP) to show how they aim to deliver any necessary change within their area. Norfolk’s plan is subject to a wide-ranging consultation every year, giving everyone the chance to shape the fire and rescue service of the future.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is provided by Norfolk County Council through the Norfolk Fire Authority. It is accountable to the Fire and Community Protection Panel at Norfolk County Council. Click Here for Details
