Training With Other Emergency Services
Due to the nature of the training function, the Centre provides an ideal opportunity to become more integrated with our neighbouring emergency services. New ambulance service recruits now have familiarisation training in Fire Service RTA techniques, whilst operational staff are assessed in their Trauma Care skills by paramedic trainers. For further information on the ambulance service click here ». The police also play an active role in our Road Traffic Accident training courses. Road Traffic Accident Training
The Training Centre offers a wide variety of training aimed directly at increasing the prognosis for the casualty involved in an RTA. Elements of this training have been devolved out to station/watch instructors and the Training Centre provides a facility to update these instructors with new techniques for casualty rescue and guidance on vehicle hazards e.g. airbags and gas powered vehicles. Brigades have the facility to offer the opportunity to their staff to practice extrication procedures and techniques on Heavy Goods Vehicles.
