Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service
is committed to working towards making Norfolk a safer place to live and work

To do this, we depend upon our dedicated team of Firefighters, of whom some 300 are Wholetime (Full time) and 470 are Retained (Part time). In 2005/6, our Firefighters attended in excess of 10,000 incidents across the County.

As well as fires, incidents included road traffic accidents, flooding, animal rescues and chemical incidents.  Responding to false alarms and assisting our neighbouring Brigades also formed part of their duties.

Situated at Brigade Headquarters, Hethersett, is our Control Room, which is staffed day and night by our Control Operators, providing the vital link between the public and the front line staff.

Keeping the Brigade running on a day to day basis and providing support to the front line staff, we have approximately 90 non-uniformed staff, working at various locations throughout the County.
