Each year hundreds of children are killed and thousands more scarred for life because they were not taught how to deal with fire or what to do in an emergency.
Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service, in conjunction with the Children’s Safety Education Foundation (Registered Charity No: 1103344) have launched a major campaign to provide primary school children throughout the county with curriculum coded educational fire safety handbooks . The full colour Red Alert handbook aims to help children, aged between 7-11, develop an awareness of many fire related issues.
Providing a comprehensive introduction to fire safety, the handbook introduces children to Dennis the Dragon – the loveable fire safety character. Dennis takes readers on an educational roller coaster, teaching them all there is to know about fire. Covering everything from fire prevention methods, to burns and scalds and how to deal with them, the scientific explanation of fire, the role of fire in celebration and even a fascinating journey back in time, the Red Alert publication is a first class educational tool.
