If you need a school visit we target these at Year 2 for Key Stage 1, Year 5 for Key Stage 2 and Year 8 for Key Stage 3. If you have someone who is fire-setting and wish to discuss this with one of our advisors please contact us. We are sometimes also able to attend Community events but this will depend on resources, and we tend to target this to priority areas of our service. We do always look forward to hearing from you with any other queries.

This section contains notes written by the crews of this station.
The station was constructed by Fisher Bullens on behalf of Tesco who officially handed it over to NFRS on the 21st of November 2011.
The building itself went live on the 22nd of December when Sheringham personnel moved across the road to the new site.
The building is constructed to a BREEAM standard meaning it is to a high level of energy efficiency and utilises an air source heat pump to provide the heating. the building is also fitted with monitoring systems able to make changes to the building dependant on its use and self monitor for faults.
The building will also be occupied by Norfolk constabulary using 2 offices in the building and the East of England Ambulance Service who will use the station as a response base for one of their Ambulances.
This carried on pretty much in the same vein throughout the thirties, until 1939, the outbreak of the Second World War, when the station was taken over by the AFS, the auxiliary fire service; another appliance was added to the station making two.
About 1942 the station then became the NFS, the National Fire Service, when two more appliances were added, now making a total of four, because of several air raids in the vicinity of the station, it was decided to disperse the appliances to different locations in the town.
One appliance was stationed at Hills Garage, Priory Road, another at Sadlers Garage, Cromer/Holway Road, and the forth at the ARP wardens station on Beeston Common, they were often called out to incidents far from the town, such as Norwich, Kings Lynn, Coventry and even to the blitz in London’s Docklands.
After the war, they returned to the station in Cremers Street, with three appliances, and around 1951 the station came under the Norfolk Fire Service, and in 1963 a new station was built on Cromer Road, this move resulted in the loss of two appliances, and reverted to being a one pump station and this is the current position today.
Author of this station history Ex Sub/Officer Victor Farrow
The current fire appliance is a Scania Water Tender Ladder. This has the additional capability (like several others in Norfolk) of Compressed Air Foam, which can be better at extinguishing certain types of fire than water alone.
