If you have someone who is fire-setting and wish to discuss this with one of our advisors please contact us. The Fire Station is situated on West Acre Road on the outskirts of Swaffham. Previously it was located on Theatre Street and even prior to this Station Street. There has been a Fire Service presence in the town for many years.
Swaffham today is crewed by a complement of 12 Personnel. The Fire Appliance is a Scania 94D Rescue Pump. The Rescue pump has a host of specialist rescue equipment and the fire fighters are highly trained and competent in its use.
Geographically Swaffham sits on two major road arteries the A1065 and the A47, a Scania rescue pump was deployed and stationed here in 2005 replacing the Mercedes 1222. The firefighters in Swaffham attended numerous incidents in the area and across the County of Norfolk during 2011. We were called to 90 Road Traffic Collisions during 2005-06 alone.
Personnel from Swaffham are employed on a Retained Duty System; this means they have other primary employment, from bricklayer and Leisure Centre Manager to electrician and Airport Firefighter. This diversity of primary employment gives the firefighters an added advantage in dealing with the complexity of emergency situations they are called to.
They are alerted for emergency calls by pager day or night when their help is required. 24hours per day 365 days per year the Fire Fighters from Swaffham provide emergency cover for the people of Norfolk.
